Office Wiser is the brain-child of bookkeeper Krystal Oleson, a Gold Certified Sage 50 Consultant and Trainer.

Located in Cranbrook, BC, Krystal serves clients across Canada with the aid of remote access technology as well as Sage's NEW Drive or Sage One products.  

She has helped so many clients set up their bookkeeping systems over the years that she realized she could offer this service on its own.

"We offer a way for people to learn how their bookkeeping systems work so that they can do it themselves or just feel better when they hand off their books to their accountant or bookkeeper," Krystal says. "Plus, knowing how the books work and how to read them leads to better business decisions."

Office Wiser has created service packages that focus on the client's individual needs.

Starting with a consultation, Krystal and her team can advise business owners which system will work best for them, and how to set up the system for their unique business requirements.

Then, Office Wiser will set the books up, make sure everything works, and train you or your staff how to maintain your books.

"People don't have time to learn all the ins and outs of setting up the correct system," Krystal says. "As a result, they often make mistakes, which can be costly. I've helped lots of people fix badly set-up books. My vision is to help as many people avoid that as possible."

Aside from set-up and training, Office Wiser does provide bookkeeping services.

"Some people just really don't want to deal with their books. We get that. We can help."


Sage 50 : Set up

You'll benefit from Krystal's wisdom and experience in setting up this industry standard computer bookkeeping system. Sage 50 has generic templates for businesses already built in, but they contain unnecessary components which can be confusing. Office Wiser will look at what your business needs and set up Sage 50 to work for your company. This is good for smaller companies who don't have a full-time bookkeeper. It also works for larger companies who want to switch over from another accounting system to Sage 50.

Set-up usually ranges from 5 to 10 hours for standard small businesses.

Sage 50 : Training

This is where Office Wiser can really, really help you. If you want to do your books yourself (or in-house) you will need to learn how. Krystal is a Certified Consultant with Sage.
She is patient with and respectful of different learning abilities and has studied with leading experts in cognitive development. Krystal's training approach will adapt to your learning style and will take place in modules of about four hours each.

Modules can include:

  • Accounts Payable
  • Accounts Receivable
  • Inventory
  • Payroll
  • Reporting
  • Chart of Accounts
  • Journal Entries
  • Tax Reporting

Each training module can take between 4 and 5 hours to learn. Office Wiser will adapt to your schedule.


Office Wiser can maintain your books at your location, by remote access or on our own computers. We can use a secure remote-access program to trouble-shoot with you to avoid travel costs.Office Wiser maintains your books year-round by working with your accountant to prepare your books to a tax-ready state. We do not do file tax returns.

Bookkeeping rates are by the hour, and most small businesses are looking at about 10 hours per month.

We prepare monthly and quarterly GST, PST, Payroll and WCB remittances.

Remittances are charged individually.
